The Bradenton Herald from Bradenton, Florida (2024)

The Bradenton Herald Thursday, November 10, 1977 Bradenton, Florida 33505 Action Line Ordered pin, got pen I ordered an Elvis album from Globe Enterprises in Plantation, after seeing a commercial on WFLA, Channel 8. When I called a woman asked me if I also wanted to order a T-shirt or a pin. She said the pin was round with a gold star and picture of Elvis. It also had the of his birth and year of his death. It cost $3.99.

I asked year three times if it was a badge-like pin and not a pen. I received the album but later returned it because I found out it could be bought locally for a much cheaper price. What I thought was the pin arrived C.O.D. and I paid $5.62. When I opened it I discovered it was an ink pen with "In Memory of Elvis" printed on it.

It is a quality pen but it isn't what I ordered. C.B., Bradenton. A customer relations employee at Globe said you could send back the pen for a refund. He said there has been some misunderstanding with other customers. He couldn't explain why you had been told three times that they were offering you a pin and not a pen.

If you want your refund, send it to Globe Enterprises, 4151 State Road 84, Ft. Lauderdale, 33314. Address it to the attention of Pat. Line Looking for seat covers When we were up North, there were a number of companies that made covers and filled them with new foam rubber cushions for Swedish modern furniture. Are there any places in Florida that you know of that might do this? These companies dealt only in Swedish modern furniture.

Thank you for any assistance. K.G., Bradenton. We don't know of any off hand, but perhaps a reader might know. There are several furniture repairing and refinishing firms listed in the Yellow Pages who might do the work or be able 1 to steer you in the right direction. Action Line Needs petticoat for play A Bayshore High School student needs to borrow a petticoat for a school play.

If you have one, let us know. We'll contact her for you. Line Hunting for Ralph Nader I've got a problem that I think Ralph Nader would be interested in. Do you have his address? A.K., Palmetto. Good luck getting through to him.

Nader gets thousands of letters each year and he has never had a large enough staff to handle the flood of mail. Each letter is eventually read and distributed to the appropriate Nader group and there are quite a few groups with ties to Nader. According to "Help: The Useful Almanac 1976-77," while Nader's mail has been piling up and much of it going unanswered, he has been conducting a study of how well other organizations handle consumer complaints. You can try to reach Nader at his original consumer organization, The Center for Study of Responsive Law, Ruth Fort, director, P.O. Box 19367, Washington, D.C., 20036.
