SEPT. 3

  • The Antietam Detachment No. 113 Marine Corps League of Washington County will meet Tuesday, Sept. 3, at 7 p.m. at Morris-Frock American Legion Post 42, 405 Northern Ave., Hagerstown. Current USMC members; former Marines; veterans who have served honorably in the Army, Navy, Air Force or Coast Guard; civilians who espouse the mission, traditions and esprit of the U.S. Marine Corps; and their spouses/friends are invited. SEPT. 4

  • The Hagerstown Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at noon at the American Legion Post 42, 405 Northern Ave., Hagerstown. The speaker for Wednesday, Sept. 4, will be Melanie Watts of Habitat for Humanity. Visitors are welcome, but need to call 301-491-4002 or emailjerry.spessard@comcast.netto arrange for lunch. Cost is $15. Suggestions for future speakers are always welcome.

  • The Chambersburg Rotary Club meets the first and third Thursdays of each month from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. at Laird Hall, Wilson College, 1015 Philadelphia Ave., Chambersburg, Pa. Go to www.chambersburgrotary.org.
  • The Kiwanis Club of Hagerstown meets Thursdays at 11:45 a.m. at Bulls & Bears Restaurant, 38 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Kiwanis Club is always ready to welcome new members interested in participating in charitable activities; just call 301-491-9116.

SEPT. 14, registration deadline

  • The North Hagerstown High School class of 1962 will hold a birthday party for all members Saturday, Sept. 21, at Homewood Suites, 1650 Pullman Lane, Hagerstown. $35 per person. Casual dress.   • The Tri-State Base of Submarine Veterans will meet Saturday, Sept. 14, at King’s Restaurant, 785 Middleway Pike, Inwood, W.Va. The meeting begins at 11 a.m.; lunch will follow. All Navy veterans qualified on a submarine and their spouses/friends are invited. The Tri-State Base of W.Va., Md. and Pa. meets every month, rotating between states.   • The South Hagerstown High School class of 1960 will hold its 64th annual reunion on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Western Sizzlin' Steakhouse, 17567 York Road, Hagerstown. The reunion will be a luncheon rather than a picnic this year. Lunch can be purchased from the full menu or the buffet.   • The Middleburg/Mason-Dixon Line Historical Society will meet Thursday, Sept. 19, at 7 p.m. at the State Line Ruritan Club, 15841 Park Drive (off Route 11), State Line, Pa. Guest speaker M.L. "Mike" Marotte III, historian of the Chambersburg (Pa.) Fire Department, will speak on "Answering the Alarm in Chambersburg."   • The Conococheague Book Club meets the third Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. at the Welsh Barrens Visitor Center, 12995 Bain Road, Mercersburg, Pa. Free and open to all. Call 717-328-2800.

  • Members of both the North and South Hagerstown high school classes of 1957 will hold their 85th birthday party on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 1 p.m. at the Williamsport Red Men Lodge 84, 16129 Lappans Road No. 4049, Williamsport.   • Members of the Boonsboro High School class of 1962 will meet for their 62nd reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21, at noon at the Western Sizzlin Steakhouse, 17567 York Road, Hagerstown. Everyone is welcome. No reservations are needed. Just come!
  • The Boonsboro High School class of 1969 will hold its 55-year reunion on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 1 to 5 p.m. at Hotel 620 (the former Ramada), 1718 Underpass Way, Hagerstown. Still looking for the following classmates: Deborah Hutzell Everhart, Stephen Judd, Betty Eaton Burker, Allen Moser, Carolyn Donhue Rumberg, Charles Holland, Harry Clark, Max Hutchinson, David Kendle, Roberta Brown Mills, Barbara Starleper Mallott and Teresa Porter Ensore. SEPT. 25, RSVP deadline

  • Members of the South Hagerstown High School class of 1961 will hold their annual picnic on Saturday, Sept. 28, at Martin L. "Marty" Snook Memorial Park (Halfway Park), Pavilion No. 4, 17901 Halfway Blvd., Hagerstown. This is the same location as in recent years. Come early and re-connect; eating around noon. Bring a covered dish to share. Drinks and chicken will be provided. OCT. 15, RSVP deadline

  • The North Hagerstown High School class of 1969 will hold its 55-year reunion on Friday, Oct. 25, and Saturday, Oct. 26. On Oct. 25, classmates will gather for an informal meet and greet, starting at 6 p.m. in the lounge at Zach Greenlee’s Fireside Restaurant, 1716 Underpass Way, Hagerstown. There is no charge for the meet and greet. The group will gather again on Oct. 26 at Hotel 620 (formerly the Ramada Plaza), 1718 Underpass Way, Hagerstown for an afternoon reunion (luncheon buffet included), starting at noon. The cost per person is $35. Reservations for the reunion are due by Tuesday, Oct. 15. Note: Save the date cards and reservation forms have been mailed.
